Homework

Homework refers to any work or activities undertaken by pupils outside of lesson time, either on their own or with support of parents and carers.

Reception

Home learning is based on the weekly topic of learning. Parents will have a choice of acitivities including Literacy, Maths and Creative. Activities are based on the parents working alongside their child encouraging talk time. Home learning is sent home every Wednesday and is to be returned the following Monday. Addition to this, at the start of Term 5, spelling words are sent home to practice for a spelling test at school. These words will be related to the sounds/words the child is learning in their phonics group. A reading book is sent home and children are encouraged to read everyday.

Year 1 & 2

  • Children are encouraged to read everyday.
  • Spelling - Hand out on Thursday (Year 1) & Friday (Year 2). Test Thursday (Year 1) Friday (Year 2).
  • Alternating weeks of literacy/numeracy given out on Wednesdays and to be returned by the following Monday.
  • Talktime given out on Monday.

Year 3 & 4

  • Children are encouraged to read everyday.
  • Spellings/sentences given out on Thursdays to be returned by the follwing Wednesday.
  • Learn it's are given out on Fridays to be tested the following Friday.

Year 5 & 6

  • Children are encouraged to read everyday.
  • Spellings/sentences given out on Fridays to be returned by the following Wednesday.
  • Literacy activity given out on Fridays to be returned by the following Wednesday.
  • Numeracy given out on Fridays and to be returned by the following Wednesday.
  • Reading Journals are checked weekly by the teacher
