We aim to inspire our children to gain curiosity and fascination in the world around us by providing children with a diverse knowledge of places, people and resources. In offering a varied curriculum, children are able to gain a deeper understanding of both the Earth’s natural and human processes as well as the environment they are within. At Monkshouse School Geography is taught through a cross-curricular topic approach. Children learn through contextual activities that develop their understanding for, and of, the Earth’s physical and human processes and of the formation and use of landscapes and environments.
Children have the opportunity to participate in outdoor learning activities that allow them to gain first-hand experience of local and contrasting environments. They are able to collect, analyse and communicate data that deepens their understanding of geographical processes whilst using a variety of fieldwork resources.
